About College

The University College of law established in the year 1925, it was the 10th only law college established in INDIA. Nagpur was then the capital of Central Province and Berar, in 1961, through state reorganization, Maharashtra came into existence with Nagpur as its second capital. Nagpur is geographically called center of India with Zero Mile Stone.
  

Sir Vivian Bose was the first Principal of the college, who became Judge of the Bombay High Court, at its bench at Nagpur.
  

In 1940 college was shifted to the present sprawling multi acre premises in the prime locality of the city
  

Since its inception college has seen many glorious days, it has to its credit alumni like Former Prime Minister of Inida, Shri Narsimha Rao, Former Justice of Supreme Court Shri Shirpurkar, Mrs. Ruma Paul, a plenty of High Court and District Court Judges and the politicians like, Shri Nitinji Gadkari and Shri Devendra Fadanvis.
  

In order to achieve holistic development of students, college presently conducts various activities such as annual academic National Festival "Justa Causa" wherein National Moot Court competition, National Seminars, Client Counseling, case comment writing, legal quiz competitions are organised.
  

To give maximum exposure of practical training and functional professional understanding, "the life of a lawyer" a regular program is conducted, wherein students can interact with invited lawyer/s.
  

Every year a university level cricket tournament is organised, so also through N.S.S. and Legal literacy camps, students are sensitized towards the problem of society. Many field activities are regularly organised such as, Supreme Court visit and other institutional visits in a study tour.
  

Infrastructure:
 

College building have class rooms, which are strictly in conformity with UGC norms, i.e. each class room is of over 900 sq. ft carpet area to host maximum 60 students. The height of the class rooms is about 15 ft. for ample light and air ventilation. Library hall is of about 2100 sq. ft. carpet area with sufficient space for readers so also an auditorium with 2000 sq. ft. carpet area.
 

For mental and spiritual development of the students, activities like, Yoga, meditation camps are held, as a part of social responsibility, annual Blood donation camps is organised. Symposia on recent important Supreme Court judgement is a regular feature of academic activities in the college. Class attendance is made compulsory for the students. Strict adherence to the rules and regulations including class attendance is observed. We do try to comply with all these rules of discipline in the campus.
 

The work of construction of Preamble park (A theme based park depicting the values enshrined in the preamble of the Constitution) has started in the college premises. In the current academic session, the college boast to have, of this only park of its kind in the entire country.
 

The location of the college is, amidst green cover, adjacent to civil lines with ample open space for parking. Most importantly all these facilities are highly subsidized by the state. One more specialty of the college is, till recently, it was the only law college in Maharashtra, which is University conducted. The college have well experienced staff on its roll.
 

In brief college has everything for overall development of the students.
